Cookies
Cookies has always been a reflection of Berlin, therefore back in 1994
when the city was still an undiscovered hedonistic heaven, so was
Cookies, visited only by neighbours, friends and family. Back then in
Mitte, every house was run-down and half the houses on every street were
derelict. You could set up a bar or club virtually wherever you wanted,
it might only last for one night or it might be open for a year, you
never knew. We made the most of this freedom, and the first years of
Cookies were spent in cellars, backyards and abandoned factories.
Lasting friendships that we still have today were forged back then and
we know this is true for hundreds if not thousands of other Berliners.
Cookies naturally grew up alongside Berlin and today the club mirrors
the city’s cosmopolitan and increasingly affluent face. Essentially we
haven’t changed though – you could say our beating heart is still a
thrown-together sound system located deep underground in a dark and cosy
Berlin cellar.
