The Watergate Club has been in business for 8 years now, and because the club repeatedly books top-notch artists and has an innovative light display, it has become a fixed part of Berlin‘s techno scene. Week for week, guests from all over the world make a pilgrimage to the club located in one of the most beautiful places in Berlin, a picturesque spot next to the Oberbaum Bridge and the River Spree near the border between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. The club‘s owners have been active in Berlin‘s club scene since the early nineties. They have gone through every possible stage of club owner-ship, starting with Drum & Bass parties in warehouses, moving on to their own underground club in the relatively untapped area of Berlin-Mitte after the fall of the Berlin Wall, from there advancing to a fixed club night at the trend-setting WMF, and finally settling down at a permanent location with the Watergate Club. In its current position, the Watergate Club is a perfect example of a new generation of Berliner clubs which open for business at a fixed location and are deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of their neighborhood or “Kiez.”
