Record stores are more than just an exchange of money. They have traditionally been places to hang out, connect with people and talk about new and rare releases. A place for community and conversation, bringing likeminded people together.

With the development of online stores, streaming and exchange, the physical world of music has had a tough time, but in spite of this Berlin is still world renowned for it's incredible selection of record shops, each with their very own unique identity. Artists from every corner of the globe are attracted to Berlin for it's clubs and events, and underpinning the vibrant music scene are some of the best individual and specialist stores that exist today. 

To mark the importance of Berlin's famous local stores and celebrate a communal love of music, let's keep the spirit alive and enjoy the very first Record Store Day in Berlin!

Starting in 2007 in the US, the idea behind Record Store Day is to offer the record shopping community something special. Just for 1 day, different stores all around the city will feature one-off and limited releases from their favourite labels, which will only be exclusively available in their store. These special releases will only be available on that day, and only in that specific record store! 

To accompany the wax, they will also organise in-store appearances from their favourite artists, creating a special day for everyone to come, enjoy, and get together.  

Having taken place in London for three years running and with great success, we are bringing it to Berlin!
